My Vision Book

This is my little notebook that I like to call my Vision Book. A month and a half ago, I began writing down any affirmations, words of inspiration, things I want, things I am grateful for, etc into this little notebook and carrying it with me in my purse wherever I go.  I’ve even included pictures of some physical things I really want, such as a Vitamix blender, and a 2013 Volkswagen Jetta, just so my intentions are clearer. This book is amazing because as I write things down, read over my notes daily, I’m finding that more and more of what I’m writing I’m receiving!vision book

For example, Joel and I really wanted to get a Vitamix blender to make green smoothies. We had watched such powerful documentaries on receiving

On Getting Older, and Wiser

“Grow old along with me! The best is yet to be.” Robert Browning (1812-1889)

Today is my 33rd birthday, and although I am very aware that I am now closer to the age of forty than twenty, I’m okay with that.  In fact, I’m feeling that with each coming day that I believe that I am where I’m supposed to be. Time is very fleeting, we all know that. Since I had my baby girl the concept of how quickly time is passing has become very apparent to me; I am watching her grow and change every day. However, the only important time is now, in this moment, and I am making the Now the primary focus of my life. I don’t want to miss it by thinking of the past, or what will be happening tomorrow.

Peace with age

Louise L. Hay’s Power Thought card

It is amazing that now, on this day, I have never been happier, and exited in my life.  I feel so powerful, and lucky, and am living each day abundantly, because the way I feel is exactly where I’m headed.

“I am at peace with my age,” Louise L. Hay suggests to affirm. The reverse side of this card says, “each age has its own special joys and experiences. I am always the perfect age for where I am in life.”

And, I am.

Happiness: An Inside Job

Today marks the first ever International Day of Happiness. It was  It was established by the United Nations General Assembly on June 28th, 2012, and according to Wikipedia, it was created to recognize that the pursuit of happiness is a fundamental human goal, and also that this day was created to recognize the need for a more inclusive, equitable and balanced approach to economic growth that promotes sustainable development, poverty eradication, happiness and the well-being of all peoples. Ah yes, the pursuit of happiness. The thought that happiness is something you will find, or obtain, maybe by buying a new car, or by going on a vacation, or by finding a great mate, or by becoming a millionaire; it makes happiness sound so elusive; something you should strive for.

The Gratitude Project

The daily practice of gratitude is one of the conduits by which your wealth will come to you. -Wallace Wattles (1860-1911)

Every morning when step out of bed, jump in the shower, and then brush my teeth, I try to remind myself to think of the things in my life I am grateful for.  It’s a marvelous way to start the day. I’m choosing to feel, and recognize the abundance in my life on a daily basis now.

Did you know that your own thinking is the only thing in life that you will ever have total control over? “What you choose to think is what you will get in life“, Louise L. Hay has written in her marvelous book I Can Do It, and I’m beginning to fully believe it.IMG_3371

Today, I decided to write it all out.  When I read it back it makes me feel so lucky! Check it out.

I am so grateful for all of the marvelous things in my life.  I have an amazing man, Joel, who loves me, and shows and tells me, he loves me every day! He is such an amazing father to our daughter and I am so lucky to have found him. He supports me in everything I do. He is my best friend.

Let Food Be Thy Medicine

Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food. -Hippocrates (460 BC to 377 BC)

Five weeks ago now I made a vow to myself to get healthy in all aspects of my life.  I mean, how can I truly feel abundant in my life if I am neglecting (or ignoring) my body?  I’ve always been an active mama; I love the outdoors, so hiking became a higher priority in my life, as well as adding some resistance training back into the mix.  I stopped drinking more than a glass of wine an evening, and my body is feeling, and looking good.

IMG_2961My fiance and I forged ahead, nutritionally, with clean eating.  What is clean eating anyway?  I mean, I usually wash my veggies before I eat them, does that count? Clean eating is eating foods that are as close to their natural state as possible.  That means no processed food, no genetically modified food, eating whole grains, eating lots of organic vegetables and fruit, eating 5-6 smaller meals throughout the day, and buying organic dairy, eggs, and meats.

Green Smoothies

green smoothieOnce our wonderful blender arrived we have been drinking these fantastic green smoothies every morning. You won’t believe how much green food it has in it: chlorophyll and a powerhouse of enzymes, vitamins, and minerals. We use a blender because unlike a juicer (which makes such a mess and throws away much of the plant), green smoothies are packed with insoluble plant fiber capable of carrying many times its own weight in toxins out of the body.

Deliberately Feelin’ Groovy

Has something like this ever happened to you?

Last weekend, Joel and I loaded the baby, and the dog, into the car to go for a hike to a local waterfall.  On the drive there I wasn’t paying attention, forgot to tell Joel where to turn off (which caused an additional 10 minutes of driving); gas light was on, so we stopped at the nearest station that just happened to be 10 cents more than it usually is!  Joel pulls the car in to the very busy gas station, gets out, and the pump is broken. Joel gets back in the car, maneuvers to another pump, and is about to begin to pump the gas when a kid runs out of the station and yells “hey buddy!  You’re going to have to move. I paid for the wrong pump, and that’s my gas!” Let me just say that within this described 15 minutes our moods went from happy- go-lucky to miserable! When it rains it pours, and there’s nothing you can do about it, right?!
